Jay Engel is a D.E.C. Licensed Fresh and Saltwater Fly Fishing Guide. Check out this page for information on guided fishing in both fresh and salt water. Canoe trips on the Long Island sound are also offered.
On the Reservoir
Jay offers a D.E.C. approved row boat on the New Croton Reservoir. The boat has capacity for 3-4 people. Don’t worry if you’ve never handled a fly rod, short lessons are provided prior to getting out on the water. Lessons can concentrate on warm water fish species, like small and largemouth bass, trout, and panfish.
On the Stream
Jay also guides wade-in trips. If you’re in search of trout, take advantage of the many streams and rivers in Westchester County. These guided trips can last 2 or more hours and transportation can be arranged.
On the Ocean
If you consider yourself an “Ol- Salt”, Jay can be found surf fishing on the South Shore of Long Island, usually at ocean beaches from Southampton to Montauk. The prime season is May 1st to November 30th. Both fly rods and surf sticks can be used when fishing on the ocean.
Jay also offers a fly fishing canoe trip along the Long Island Sound, launching from Sag Harbor, NY. This is a chance to view some great seaside scenery and catch fish local to the Sag Harbor area.
Note, for salt water trips only, you can obtain a New York Marine & Costal District Waters Registry Permit. This is free on the New York DEC website, and can be accessed here.
